NeNe Leakes’ Duluth mansion had the size, the glamour, and the television recognition. What it did not achieve was its original $4 million asking price. The home sold for $2.65 million in January 2022, according to contemporary reporting. Our new video revisits that older transaction and the gap between a celebrity home’s headline price and its eventual buyer.
The numbers behind Casa Leakes
Realtor.com’s February 3, 2022 report records the $2.65 million sale after a September 2021 debut at $4 million. The asking price fell to $3.8 million, then approximately $3.5 million before the deal. NeNe and Gregg Leakes had purchased the home for $2.075 million in 2015.
The closing was $1.35 million below the original ask, or about 34%. It was also $575,000 above the reported purchase price. Neither comparison measures a net gain or loss after renovations, ownership expenses, and transaction costs. An asking price is a seller’s starting point, not a promise the market will meet.
A home made for the spotlight
The same report describes a 10,517-square-foot Mediterranean-style home with a distinctive primary closet, a theater, game room, wine storage, and beauty salon. Outside, the pool and covered terrace extend the entertaining spaces. Its rooms also appeared on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” giving fans a connection before they ever saw the listing.
Fame can bring attention. Value still needs agreement.
The photographs explain the appeal: bright interiors, dramatic volume, and spaces designed around a particular way of living. They also raise a practical question for any luxury buyer—how much of the previous owner’s vision fits the next owner’s life? A custom closet or salon can be a selling point, but its value depends on who is looking.
There is no need to assume every price reduction came from the same cause. The documented outcome is enough to make this an interesting case: a recognized celebrity home moved through several asking prices before finding a buyer. The lesson is the distinction between visibility and willingness to pay. This is a look back at the 2021–2022 sale, not a claim that the home is newly for sale today.
